University of Turku, Finland

University of Turku is an internationally competitive university located in South-West Finland in Turku, the oldest city of Finland. It is the third largest university in the country and its operations are based on high quality multidisciplinary research. In partnership with Tata Steel Foundation, we are collaborating with the University of Turku on pedagogic content creation, teacher education, and capacity building of administrators towards school management.
The collaboration includes
On 1st December 2021, thirty young artists flew from rural Odisha and Jharkhand, courtesy of AirAsia airlines, to showcase their artwork at the Embassy of Finland in Delhi on the occasion of Finnish Independence Day. Among the dignitaries present were Finland’s Ambassador to India Ritva Koukku-Ronde, Senior Specialist in Political and Economic Affairs Mika Tirronen, Tata Steel Corporate Services Vice President Chanakya Chaudhary, Tata Steel Foundation Education Head Smita Agarwal, and Aspire’s Executive Director Daya Ram.

In fall  2022, a team of academics and administrators from University of Turku, spent one week in the Education Signature Program areas. The team consisted of University of Turku’s teacher training school Principal Vesa Valkila, Head of Department of the faculty of Education Dr. Kristina Heikkila, training expert Mirjami Jeskanen, Turku Research Institute for Learning Analytics (TRILA) Vice Director Pekka Rasanen, and Mika Tirronen and Pajala Vilma Lotta from the Finland Embassy. The team visited classes at early childhood centres and government schools and interacted with students, community members, Aspire staff, government school administrators, and teachers.
