Parent Teacher Association

A typical Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is composed of all the teachers and parents/guardians of current school children. PTA meetings are held at least twice a year, and in certain government schools, they are held every three months.
Aspire works to activate PTAs in government schools through training, counselling, and mobilising parents. We sensitise parents to child rights issues and RTE guidelines. Once activated, PTA members work on issues related to donations/contributions, child attendance, and universal enrollment. Our staff regularly monitors the functioning of PTAs on tasks such as the weekly headcount of children. Some of the PTA members also serve on the School Management Committee. According to the guidelines of the Odisha government, the presence of at least 40% of total PTA members is required to validate a school-related resolution.
