Community Child Rights Forum

The Child Rights Protection Forum (CRPF) or Shishu Adhikar Suraksha Samiti (SASS) is a voluntary group of community members working on issues related to child rights, protection, and child development. Aspire facilitates the formation of a CRPF or SASS committee in every village, with an average membership of 10 to 20 individuals, including an equal number of men and women. From each village-level committee, 2-3 members are selected to form the gram panchayat CRPF. Members from the panchayat-level CRPF committees join to form the block-level CRPF, which also includes sarpanches of all gram panchayats, retired government teachers, and Aspire staff.
The primary task of the CRPF committee is to ensure that children attend school regularly and prevent child labour, trafficking, and child marriages. Weekly or monthly, members visit households and inquire about children’s well-being and education status. If children are found out of school, the CRPF committee informs Aspire staff and together they plan for re-enrollment of children. CRPF members have helped in preventing several hundred cases of child marriages and child trafficking in Odisha and Jharkhand.
