EkStep Foundation

EkStep Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to extend learning opportunities to millions of Indian children by providing a universal platform for educational content. In an effort to bridge the gap between home and school language in tribal areas, we collaborated with EkStep Foundation to create a bridge language inventory of local and tribal languages. The language inventory is widely used in our project areas to facilitate teacher-child interaction. We have translated and developed words, poems, and stories in five languages (Hindi, English, Ho, Odia, and Santhali) and are working to add learning materials in 5 tribal languages of Odisha and Jharkhand – Sadri, Mundari, Juang, Kharia, and Kurukh. We have created a vocabulary list of 15,00 words under 21 learning categories, such as animals, birds, colours, human body parts, household things, relations, season and time, taste etc. The vocabulary list helps children learn about the world around them. Children can tap on any given material and find its translation and pronunciation in various local languages.
