PRI Conventions Across Odisha: Supporting Governance for Better Childhood and Quality Education

Aspire has been conducting one day conventions on child rights and Right to Education(RTE) Act, 2009ย  for newly elected members of Panchayati Raj Institutions across Keonjhar, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha. In our efforts to encourage local governments to take charge of child rights and quality education, we continuously support them through orientations and training. During the conventions, discussions were conducted around child rights, RTE and the role and responsibilities of PRI members in protecting child rights. Participants also talked about what it means to have access to quality education. A total of 1087 participants from 496 PRIโ€™s including 18 Jilla Parishad Members, 10 block chairmans, 12 counsellors, 239 Sarpanchs have attended our conventions so far. We are yet to conduct conventions in five more blocks which will take place this month.
