World Day Against Child Labour

Aspire, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, observed the World Day Against Child Labour on 12th June at DN High School in Keonjhar. The event was organised to spread awareness about the importance of protecting childrights and how to stop the increasing rate of child labour in our countrty

Keonjhar District and Sessions Judge Shri. Chittranjan Mohapatra, JMFC Shri. Sthitapragnya Biswal, DLSA Registrar cum Secretary Incharge Dr. Mamata Mohanty, Aspire State Coordinator Shri. Ravi Kumar, Aspire State Learning Coordinator Shri. Haladhar Rout, other staff representatives from Aspire and children from Aspire’s RBCs participated in the event.

All the speakers in the event stressed on the role of poverty and migration in increasing the rate of child labour, importance of right to education in bringing children back to schools and articles from constitution and laws that aim to prevent child labour and strengthen child rights. Aspire’s mandate to eradicate child labour and bring children back to schools was also discussed in the meeting.

One of the girls from Aspire’s RBC presented her case study and another girl sang a motivational song.

A total of 21084 children, Aspire staff and Government employees participated in World Day Against Child Labour observations organised by Aspire in 415 gram panchayats and 6 MPLs across the project areas in Odisha.
