Barjemei Village: Bringing Education Closer to Children in a Remote Hill Settlement

Barjemei village in Harichandanpur Block, located across three hills, faces severe barriers to children’s education due to its difficult terrain, migration, lack of documentation, and limited access to schools.

ASPIRE’s recent field engagement highlights the situation of 53 dropout children and ongoing efforts to re-enrol them through coordination with government departments and community stakeholders. Key interventions include documentation support, linkage to education systems, and facilitation of access to basic services such as drinking water, nutrition, and hostel facilities. Government officials have also visited the village and assured necessary support measures to address these challenges.
